CLUB ELECTION REPORTS ARE DUE JUNE 1ST

Please send your club election report in as quickly as possible, so that your club’s officers may be listed in the District and International Directories. The International Directory lists clubs all over the world, so you do not want to have your club’s information omitted, if you do not submit your Election Form the officers now serving will be listed. Many Kiwanians who travel, check with their club secretary to obtain the time, location, and date of club meetings to visit while on the road, so they can keep their perfect attendance plus getting to know fellow Kiwanians. The International Directories are not longer sent to the Club Secretaries, but they may be purchased through the Member Services Department of Kiwanis International or from the catalog for the fee of $15.00 plus shipping and handling.

Our International Convention in Orlando, Florida is just around the corner. If your club is unable to provide a delegate, you may select a Past Lieutenant Governor or the Current Lieutenant Governor of your Division to represent your club if he or she is going. If a Past Lieutenant Governor agrees to represent your club it is the responsibility of the club to get the Delegate Certificate of Election form to the District Office for signature. If you need a form please contact the District Office. A great time of fellowship, entertainment, and information is in store for all who attend the convention. Hope to see you there!

Incoming Lieutenant Governors will be trained May 2nd – 4th by Governor-Elect Carlton Norris. Following their training they will begin making club contact visits. Work with them and do not forget to line up your Lieutenant Governor to install your 2008-2009 club officers.

Remember to do your on line Monthly reports by the 10th of each month, and if you have not yet sent in your dues please do so as soon as possible, and remember all dues now go to Kiwanis International. All Club DUES must be paid for your Club Delegate to be seated in the House of Delegates.

Just a Note:

In sending in articles and pictures for the Georgia Kiwanian, please send in pictures and articles that are current, and if you want your pictures returned, you must send a self-stamped envelope for return mail.

By now you should have your club annual meeting scheduled to elect club officers. June 1st is the deadline to send in the Club Officer Election form to International, and the District Office. Please do your best to meet this deadline as the information is needed for publications on the International and District level.

Club Delegate forms for the International Convention are slow in coming into the Macon office. These forms were sent to each person that has registered for the convention. Please, select your delegates and send the form in as soon as possible. A word of caution: all dues and other financial obligations must be current for delegates to be seated in the House of Delegates in Orlando, Florida; so be sure that all club financial obligations to International, and the District have been met. We sure do not want to embarrass your delegate.

Our 89th Annual Convention of the Georgia District of Kiwanis International will be held August 15-17, 2008, in Peachtree City, Georgia. The registration forms and Certificate of Election of Delegates will be mailed out soon to each club.

The New Year promises exciting times for the Georgia District as the District focuses on ways and means to promote projects to the less fortunate. I would like to take this oppor- tunity to thank all of you who rang the bell for the Salvation Army, delivered meals, stuffed stocking, collected toys, and gathered can goods.

Mid-Winter Conference

The Mid-Winter Conference is set for Saturday, February 23rd, at Wesleyan College, in Macon, Georgia. I am looking forward to seeing each of you at the conference. I will be teaching a secretaries class and we will pick up where we left off at the Fall Conference. I would like to thank you for submitting your monthly reports through the online system. In October 76% of the clubs filed their reports through the online system, and in November 69%. Let’s keep up the good work. If you are just beginning the system – you must start with the October Monthly Report and come forward.

The District had a loss in membership last year. Let’s work hard this year to correct that, and have a positive growth.

Those who earned Distinguished status worked long and hard to maintain that can-do attitude in their clubs. We thank them for showing us that in 2007-2008, their successors have a solid base upon which to work. Kiwanis International will be sending out the list of those who were approved to be Distinguished Clubs shortly.

Have You Put The Following Dates On Your Calendar?

Division Rally - See your Lt. Governor it you don’t have the date.
2. February 15th – tax deadline for clubs.
3 Mid-Winter Conference, February 23rd, Macon, Georgia
4District Wide K Family Service Project – Keep Georgia Beautiful – April 19th.
5State Talent and Art Contest – Carrollton, Georgia, April 26th.
6Club Election - This report is due into the District Office and Kiwanis International by June 1st.
7International Convention – Orlando, Florida, June 26th -29th.
8Georgia District Convention – Peachtree City, Georgia, August 15th – 17th.

Just a reminder:

1Send International any membership changes promptly. It costs the District about $40 a month on returned mail, as we obtain our mailing labels from International.
2Submit your Monthly Reports by the 10th of each month online and to your Lt. Governor.
3If your club has pictures of your current events taking place; please send these with a caption to the District Office in Macon for the Georgia Kiwanian. Pictures will not be returned unless you send a self-stamped envelope. (If sending pictures by email – please send them as an attachment in jpg format.)
4New Member Add Fees - $60.00 goes to Kiwanis Inter- national with new member add form. ($50.00 International and $10.00 for District)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
The Christmas Season is approaching and provides many opportunities not only for tangible goods, but holiday cheer. It’s that time of the year when being a Kiwanian makes one proud to be associated with an organization that provides care and joy to those less fortunate. I would like to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Safe Holiday Season.

Now, on the business side, wouldn’t it be a wonderful present to Governor Mick Maguire and his Board, if we could have all reports filed on time? What a great Christmas present this would be. May we count on you? Remember your reports are due the 10th of each month to your Lt. Governor and to the District Office. Let’s make 2008 the best reporting year ever.

I hope by now all of you have registered on the KiwanisOne Online Reporting System. This is the way we are doing ALL Monthly Club reports this year. If you have not registered you will need to go to the following lick http://www.kiwanisone.org/common/memberregistration.aspx and follow the instructions. Once you have set your password go to https://www.kiwanisone.org/login and click of the Monthly Report in the secretary menu (in the gray bar area.) Please note when logging in you will need your Club Key Number and your Member ID Number. If you have any problems contact the District Office at alexia@gakiwanis.org or kiwanisone@kiwanis.org.

Your Lt. Governors stand ready to help with any problems. These dedicated Kiwanis leaders are giving unselfishly of their time, talent, and yes their money as they lead their respective divisions. So when they visit your club, treat them as heroes.

The Club Annual Report can be found on the Kiwanis International Website as it was last year, for those clubs who do not have excess to the website a form will be mailed to you. Every club except those build in 2006-2007, and those put on charter suspended status, must file the Annual Club Report by October 31st. If you have do not received the report, please contact your Lt. Governor or the District Office know, and we will see that you get a copy. Begin now compiling this report. When submitting your report, read the instructions from International carefully. Don’t make Governor Dewey, have to call your club or have to drive to your club to pick it up. He to, has a tremendous job facing him in winding down the year. We owe it to him to finish the year with all reports in on time.

The Albany Convention is now history. You selected Nancy Walden, of the Newnan Club, as the incoming Secretary- Treasurer. Mick Maguire, of the Peachtree City Club, and Carlton Norris of the Washington Club, were elected Governor and Governor- Elect respectively.

Special thanks goes to Katrina Baranko and her staff of volunteers, who handled registration, tours, and housing for the convention.

Governor Mick Maguire and David Simmons have lined up a splendid training conference in Kennesaw, on Saturday, October 6th at the Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. The courses offer something for everyone. Mark your Calendar now for Fall Conference, October 6th.

The District Office will be closed the following dates:
August 29th - September 4th
September 10th – 18th

Kiwanis International news

Kiwanis International is pleased to deliver the first-ever new and renewing member kits to Kiwanis clubs in US, Canada, and the Caribbean. The kits contain valuable information for members on how to find new ideas for projects, navigating the Web site, and information on KIWANIS magazine. The kits also contain a member ID card, a window decal, a personalized member certificate, and a personalized letter from International President Robert L. Moore. All new members who joined on or after October 1, 2003, also will receive a new-member handbook. One of the leading requests made of Kiwanis International each year is a membership card. Members want to show they are officially part of the Kiwanis family. The new card displays a member's name, member since data, and member and club ID numbers. This was all possible for the low cost of US$1.04 per kit.

Kiwanis-family corporate partners also wanted to provide membership extras to show their appreciation for the work we do in our communities. Hertz, Costco, Amerlink, Family Heritage, SaveRx, TruGreen Chemlawn, MBNA, and Choice Hotels have joined forces with Kiwanis International to provide our members with high quality member discounts and benefits.

The kits were two years in the making. Test kits were launched during the 2001-02 administrative year to over 50,000 members in the Carolinas, Montana, Nebraska-Iowa, and Southwest districts. The members voiced their overwhelming support of the project.

Every member across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean will receive a membership kit. Please contact the Growth Department (growth@kiwanis.org) at Kiwanis International for further information.
